A little history

The historic Palmen restaurant first opened its doors over a century ago, in the year 1913, and has since been a meeting place for visitors and locals alike. Over the years, Palmen was also the place where Kristiania’s bohemia gathered, somewhere one could be inspired by its beautiful surroundings all while eating and drinking in a luxurious setting and in good company. Henrik Ibsen was a regular guest at Palmen restaurant and often visited to cool off in the courtyard when the heat was at its worst.

Palmen has undergone many renovations over time, but its true atmosphere, full of historical hustle and bustle, has remained the same throughout and is one of the many reasons why it has gained its iconic status in Oslo.
