London, Paris, Rome and Berlin were all among the top favorites, but it is our own beautiful Grand Hotel, situated on the capitals high street, that can proudly wear the title of Europe’s most luxurious suite hotel.
On the 1st of November the red-carpet was rolled out at Indigo Pearl Resort Phuket, Thailand as World Luxury Hotel Awards turned the spotlight on some of the world’s most luxurious hotels and resorts.
Grand Hotel, Oslo was announced the European winner 2013 in the following category: Luxury Suite Hotel.
The winners are evaluated on the basis of the hotel’s product and chiefly the level of service. Tour operators, travel agencies and the hotels guests all give their valuable votes, making the evaluation process fair, impartial and therefore more precious.
"We are of course absolutely delighted to accept this award" says Managing Director of Grand Hotel, Fredrikke Næss, with a smile.
"We have always known that we offered Norway’s best selection of suits, but it is especially gratifying to be voted best amongst Europe’s top hotels" says Næss.
The Grand Hotel is Oslo’s most venerable and elegant deluxe hotel, who first opened its doors in 1874. For nearly 140 years, the name has been synonymous with quality and atmosphere. World-famous Norwegians such as Henrik Ibsen and Fridtjof Nansen made the Grand their second home. Today, we are proud hosts to Nobel Peace Prize laureates, celebrities and heads of state.
"Having discerning guests is a commitment which we embrace! Being the hosts for VIP guests from all over the world requires suites of the utmost excellence and quality. The suites of course need to be fully equipped, have a luxurious and stylish design, but what separates the best hotels from the rest, is their level of service. This type of visit requires an alert and well trained staff, thorough planning and relevant experience. We must adapt according to the different nationalities, ranks, needs and demands. The Grand Hotel has close to 140 years of experience in this particular field; nevertheless, this requires a persistent effort every day from every single member of staff". Næss explains.
The Grand Hotel has throughout the years been the natural first choice for visiting dignitaries, celebrities and leaders from all over the world, but the hotel is simultaneously focused on offering all our other guests the luxury, quality and comfort they have the right to expect from a modern first-class, international hotel.
"Our vision is to offer the best guest experience and it is with this vision firmly planted in our minds that we create new exciting concepts and constantly work on enhancing the hotel’s facilities" says Kari Hasselknippe, Director Sales and Marketing of Grand Hotel.
"Earlier this year we refurbished our Mikado Suite, in the Colour of the Year 2013. This suite offers our guests a chance to find inspiration for their own homes, experience new Norwegian designers as well as gaining a positive and unusual hotel experience. In 2011 all of our deluxe rooms and junior suites were refurbished. Additionally, our two top suites were given an interior boost earlier this year".
The Grand Hotel has 292 hotel rooms, including 54 suites.
