Grand Hotel and Moods of Norway cement new partnership with tractors, waffles and champagne!
Friday 22 October will see Moods of Norway launch its new waffle station in the Grand Café, marking the start of a brand new partnership.
The agreement will involve Grand Hotel hosting Moods of Norway’s future fashion shows and launches until March 2013. The venture will also include a range of joint concepts such as the monthly Friday waffle event in the Grand Café and an exclusive Moods of Norway refreshments concept aimed at our course and conference guests.
In addition, the collaboration will have a high profile in the Grand Café, as the main base for this new ‘friendship’!
Earlier in the autumn, the Grand Hotel launched ‘Local food on the menu’, and it was in conjunction with this that the hotel toyed with the idea of bringing a new dimension to the historic setting of the Grand Café.
Many people might wonder what local food actually is, here in the heart of Oslo. Trout from the Akerselva river, or maybe rabbit from Gamlebyen? Sales and Marketing Director Kari Hasselknippe explains that, as a hotel in the middle of the Norwegian capital, it is only natural for us to source local food from across the country. “Our menus include wild salmon from Borealis Gourmet in Alta and the fantastic Lofoten lamb, which has grazed all the way from the water’s edge to the mountain slopes 600 m above sea level. There is no other meat like it. These Lofoten lambs are happy lambs!”
“Moods of Norway makes exuberant clothing for happy people of all ages,” says Hasselknippe. “The designer duo love all things Norwegian, such as waffle irons, tractors and panoramic vistas from Stryn. These are associations that chime well with the Local Food project,” she continues, and so a playful idea has resulted in a cooperation agreement between the hotel and the highly successful designers from Stryn.
Moods of Norway are extremely pleased to be working with the Grand Hotel. “We couldn’t have found a better partner for our fashion shows and launches! The Grand Hotel has a position in the market that suits us down to the ground and it’s great fun that the Grand Café is getting a ‘touch of Moods’! If we were going to enter into any partnership, it had to be with the Grand,” explains Simen Staalnacke, who is looking forward to spending more time at the hotel in the future.
The Grand Café has dedicated its new menu to Moods of Norway’s adventurous new collection, launched earlier in the autumn. The name of the menu is ‘Adventures from Norway’, which beautifully sums up the dishes from the storybooks of Norway, including The Fox’s Widow’s starters, The Three Billy Goats Gruff’s main courses and Smørbukk’s desserts, to name but a few. “We’ll now be offering the best our fantastic country has to offer in terms of food culture and ingredients,” says Kari Hasselknippe.
And on top of all that, the Grand Café’s maitre d’ and waiting staff will be wearing designer clothing from Moods of Norway!
“Half of our guests come from abroad, which makes it even more of a pleasure for us to be a forum for promoting Norwegian designers,” comments Hasselknippe. “In 2006, we launched our Ladies Floor, with its own design and 13 unique rooms, all telling their own story. This was a huge success both nationally and internationally, so we already know that good stories create fun and enjoyable experiences! We are storytellers and now we are beginning a new chapter!”
As the monthly Friday waffle events are launched in the Grand Café, expect waffles, tractors, champagne and the essence of Norway. Here, the worlds of Moods and the Grand will come together over Grandma’s recipes and favourite old stories among good friends.
“With this colourful new direction, we can’t fail to ensure happy guests and a great atmosphere, and we’re looking forward to welcoming a new, enthusiastic and energetic partner onto the team,” concludes the Marketing Director.
